Day 8 – Body for Life – The Bean

So today is day 8. To be honest, I wasn’t very good at keeping up everything that I wanted to do during the first 8 days. But I’m trying to go with the flow, and forget about what I don’t do, and concentrate on what I WILL do, today! Today I did my upper body work out, which I think I was actually supposed to do that yesterday, but I got all confused, and I wanted to play with my new actually it’s an old, toy.
It’s call “The Bean“. Sounds ominous huh? Ok, well maybe not, it’s actually quite cute, easy, and if you have major back problems like I do, then it’s perfect for you! I bought “The Bean about 3 years ago (that can’t be right, time just flies past me), actually my mom bought it for me, but I would have bought it. She saw it on an infomercial (yes, we both are addicted to infomercials), and decided it would be great for me. I don’t remember how much she paid for it, it’s possible I never knew. After it finally arrived, and I used it just once, I was glad she bought it for me.
Basically its this kidney bean shaped blowup thing. It came with a “Flex 10″, which is a plastic base with resistance bands & a pulley system that you use along with the bean to do weight training stuff.
When I first got it, I used the bean almost every day, mostly for ab exercises to strengthen my core muscles, but also to help my back pain. Which stretching across the curve of the bean really helped my back a lot! I did lose some weight during this time, but I was also drinking meal replacement shakes and other stuff, so I don’t know exactly what helped out. But the bean definitely made a difference in the way my back felt.
Then last year, we moved. I hate packing, mostly because it takes way too much time to do, and I have way too much stuff to pack. So instead of everything being neatly packed and labeled so I can find it to unpack nicely after we move, everything sorta gets tossed into a box (or many many many boxes) and I never know where anything actually is after we move. So that is how my bean got lost when I moved from California to Las Vegas.
Then, yesterday when we were looking through boxes for some other things (doesn’t that always happen, you can’t find something until you’re looking for something else), I found my bean! I was soooo happy! So today I got it all filled with air, and did my upper body work out on it. Now I know that my arms have muscles in the back as well as the front. I met them for the first time today! LOL! I don’t think they like me very much though, but that’s ok, cuz they aren’t my friends right now. Over all though, it was a great workout, if great means pain and stretching of muscles you just met… which I”m told it does mean that.
I was going to buy a set of resistance bands, but I”m not sure I”m going to need them now that I found my bean again. AT the very least it’s easy to exercise with and I’ll get a total body workout by using this one special peice of equipment. It takes up almost no space too! Which is really great because I have no room for anything in my tiny house. And when you deflate it, it takes up even less space! I would say the best thing to do, if you have back or neck problems, but want to exercise anyway, that you should run out and get a bean now! You’ll love it and thank me later!
